A Street-Light Star: A poem

A Street-Light Star

Walking home in the rain,
Late at night,
Pondering what,
Your message meant,
I came upon
A pool of rain-water
Which had captured
The image of a street-light
As a many-pointed star.
The rain-drops falling
Around it caught
Little flashes of light
Giving the throbbing star
A shimmering halo.
I decided to stop fretting
About what might have been
And what will never be.
Instead I will look for
Little miracles of beauty
In life as it is.
